Batavia Public Library subscribes to a variety of reference databases, which are useful for doing research.
The following reference databases are among the most useful for homework research:
· Student Resources in Context provides articles (many full-text) from reference books, magazine, academic journal, and
newspapers in a variety of subject areas. This database also includes images and primary sources.
· World Almanac provides full-text articles from The World Almanac and Funk & Wagnall’s New Encyclopedia.
· America's News Magazines provides full-text magazine articles about news, business, entertainment, science and technology,
lifestyle, and sports.
· NoveList Plus provides information about more than 150,000 fiction and 50,000 nonfiction books, and offers book discussion
guides, author read-alikes, lists of award winners, series information, and various ways to search for books.
How to log in to reference databases
These databases are available within the Library on the Library’s computers, and from outside the Library to Batavia Public Library cardholders who may access the databases by logging in with their library card number and PIN. If you are logging in from outside the Library, after you click on the name of the database you would like to search:
In the "Library Card Number" box, type the barcode number located on the back of your Batavia Public Library card, without the spaces. In the "PIN" box, type your PIN. (Unless you have changed your PIN, it is the word changeme).
Click the Submit button.
